Objectives

This is an organization of Bangladeshi Buddhist Students who are living in Thailand and around the globe. Its objective is to generate unity, awareness of our history, literature, culture, and heritage among the Buddhist Communities in Bangladesh and explore our Buddhist identity to the world. As Buddhists of Bangladesh are not much recognized in the world, we feel such a necessity of perceiving an Organization. We know very well that, once Buddhism was the central intellectual force in Bangladesh but due Muslim invasion we are in regret. The Baruas, who are the original Buddhists, are sustaining the legacy of that glorious heritage although interpolated with later influences. Many Bangladeshi Buddhist Masters like Ven. Santa Rakshita, Atisha Dipankar Sri Gyan, Candragomin of the past and Venerable Dharmadhar Mahasthabir, Dr. Benimadhav Barua in the recent century, who hail from Bangladesh are highly esteemed by modern scholars for their great contributions in the development of Buddhist literature and traditions. In fact Bengali scholars trace the introduction of Buddhism in Bangladesh to the time of Ven. Vangīśa – a contemporary disciple of the Buddha, who was well known for poetical skills. Sadly, many people do not know that these masters were from Bangladesh and that the legacy of these savants still remains in Bangladesh. Therefore, BBSAT seeks to produce among all the Bangladeshi Buddhists Students and then make the world have a better picture of Buddhism in Bangladesh with their live time effort.

1. BBSAT is a website based on Student Association which brings unity within us. Our interactions are through inter-dialogue within the members in presence but members who cannot participate the inter-dialogue meetings shall interact through internet communication system through the websites or the contact information provided in the website [e.g. using mails]

  1. i think it is important to maintain the originality of the website by making it unique and different. however it is surprising to know that the bbsat had copied the objectives from the Bangladeshi Buddhist Students Union (bbsu)which had started 3 years from now in Sri Lanka. anyhow i appreciate all of your effort to try to do something for the Buddhism of Bangladesh...
